Cuba and Russia Agreed on Joint Energy Project

According to Cuban News Agency: Russia's Inter RAO EES Company and Cuba's Union Electrica enterprise agreed on the creation of a joint venture to upgrade hydroelectric and thermoelectric plants in Cuba, announced the Russian enterprise.According to a report from R?a Novosti news agency, the agreement was signed by Inter RAO EES president Yevgueni Dod, and Union Electrica deputy Director Ra?l Garc?a Barreiro.The report also reads that the pilot project of the new enterprise focuses on the modernization of the "Maximo Gomez" thermoelectric plant, located in western Havana municipality of Mariel.The Russian-Cuban company will implement investment projects related to small hydroelectric plants; it will also provide energy equipment to Cuba andl work on the improvement on the Caribbean nation's power supply infrastructure. Inter RAO EES owns important power plants in Moldavia, Armenia, Georgia and other countries.
